Malum Terminus Technologies Selected for BrokerTech Ventures 2021 Class
Company is the only Iowa-based startup to be accepted into the accelerator program

Coralville, IA (March 1, 2021) – Malum Terminus Technologies, Inc. (MTTI), announced today that it has been accepted into the BrokerTech Ventures (BTV) Accelerator 2021 Cohort Class. MTTI is one of only 12 global startups accepted into the program and is the only Iowa-based company selected.

“It’s truly an honor to be part of such a select group chosen by BrokerTech Ventures,” said Scott Keplinger, MTTI CEO. “BTV shares our passion for developing leading-edge solutions and was interested in our core mission of improving the world by keeping people safe. Not only are our missions aligned, we also know that technology can reduce workers comp, property casualty, general liability, healthcare claims, and more.”

Throughout the accelerator,  MTTI will advance its technologies and accelerate its progress through BTV’s mentor network of brokers, wholesalers, and insurance carriers while receiving an additional $50,000 in seed funding.

“I am sincerely impressed at the quality of startups we have in this class,” said John Jackovin, executive director of the BTV Accelerator. “I worried after last year’s success that maybe the well would run dry, but these startups show that insurtech is a fruitful space to be and BTV is here to help drive these amazing startups to success, faster.”

Malum Terminus Technologies is a spinout of the University of Iowa Technology Institute formed to commercialize and further novel AI capabilities developed for the U.S. Department of Defense. Initial efforts are disrupting the safety and security industry through the IntelliSee AI risk mitigation platform and the health and human performance industry through the Prepair AI engine and VitaliSee platform.

IntelliSee empowers existing surveillance cameras with deep-learning algorithms to help organizations improve their risk profiles and make the world safer through AI.  IntelliSee autonomously monitors live surveillance feeds for threats to human safety including slip and fall hazards (spilled liquids, etc.), drawn weapons, fallen persons, trespassers, no-shows/missing employees and more. Higher education, K-12, healthcare, airline, insurance, grocery and retail are some of the initial industries IntelliSee is being implemented in.

Prepair and VitaliSee leverage breakthrough AI technologies and domain expertise to address the extreme complexity of the human system. Initial efforts are improving the well-being and readiness of U.S. Military soldiers by addressing the high cost and impact of musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries.  Capabilities are expanding into private industry where MSK injuries are a leading cost and productivity challenge.
